June is...

Guess what this month is?

Adopt a cat month!

The American Humane Association and the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) have designated June - Adopt-a-Shelter-Cat month. You can invite a cat to share your home at any time of the year, but June is an especially good month to adopt a cat or kitten from a local shelter.

More kittens are born in the spring and summer than in the fall or winter months. By June the number of kittens available for adoption has grown and many shelters begin to feel the pressure on space and other resources. In addition to the seasonal "crop" of new kittens there are always juveniles, adults, and elders waiting to find a position where they can employ their talents and receive fair compensation, benefits, and a secure retirement.

If you find yourself in need of a cat to make your house a home you are sure to find a suitable candidate for the job when you visit your local shelter. June is a perfect time to find just the right cat or kitten for your situation.
